The project
Office for you, lounge for the cat
This 9m² garden studio in Walthamstow needed no planning application and does two jobs: a home office with a bespoke desk, and a lounge with a cosy sofa. There's even a cat flap, so the cat can share it.
Grey cement-board panels and cream window frames give it a crisp, city look, softened by a green roof. Inside, warm pine plywood panelling and a skylight make it bright and relaxed, a room to choose over the house on a sunny afternoon.
The room is unique, amazingly designed and practical but also beautiful. Far better value for money than building an extension.
